Privacy policy

The Peptide Guide (thepeptideguide.ca) is a Canadian research and education site operated by Rachel Gibb. This page describes what the site collects, why, where it is stored, and what you can ask us to do about it.

The short version: there are no accounts on this site, we never ask for payment information, and the only personal information you can submit through our newsletter form is an email address. Our host also processes request information for traffic measurement and site operations.

What we collect

Your email address, if you give it to us

The newsletter form in the footer collects one thing: the email address you enter. We also record which form it came from and the date. We do not ask for your name, and we do not buy or import address lists.

Analytics about your visit

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and understand popular pages, referring sites, countries, and device and browser types. It does not use analytics cookies. Vercel derives a temporary visitor identifier from request information; that identifier is discarded after 24 hours and is not designed to recognize you across days. We remove query strings and URL fragments from page addresses sent for analytics. We do not send newsletter email addresses, calculator inputs, or custom interaction events to this counter. We no longer load Google Analytics on this site.

Standard server logs

Our host, Vercel, keeps short-term operational logs of requests to the site, which include IP addresses. These exist to keep the site running and to investigate abuse. We do not use them to build profiles of readers.

Cookies and browser storage

This site does not set analytics cookies. It stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser’s local storage under the key tpg-theme. That preference never leaves your device and is never sent to us. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run retargeting pixels.

Where your information is stored

Email addresses are held in a Supabase database hosted in Canada (ca-central-1). Vercel handles website analytics, hosting and logs; processing may take place outside Canada, including in the United States. Cookie-free analytics still involves processing request data.

Who else is involved

• Supabase. The database that stores newsletter emails.
• Vercel. Hosting, content delivery and cookieless website analytics.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your email address with any other company for their own marketing.

Links to other sites

This site links out to My Peptide Protocol (https://mypeptideprotocol.app), which has the same founder, and to vendors including RegenBioSignals (https://regenbiosignals.com), which is a disclosed referral partner. Those links carry a referral code and campaign tags so the destination site can attribute the visit, and the destination may set its own cookies once you arrive. Once you leave thepeptideguide.ca, this policy no longer applies. Read the privacy policy of whichever site you land on.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe at any time. Email us and we will delete your address from the list.
• See, correct, or delete what we hold. Under PIPEDA you may ask what personal information we have about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Write to us and we will respond within 30 days.
• Block analytics. You can block analytics requests with your browser or an extension. The site works normally either way.

How long we keep things

Email addresses are kept until you ask us to remove them. Vercel’s temporary analytics visitor identifier expires after 24 hours; this is separate from retention of aggregated reports and operational logs, which follow the settings and limits of our hosting plan. Historical Google Analytics reports collected before this change may remain in our existing Google account under its retention settings; no new visits are sent to Google Analytics by this site.

Children

This site covers compounds sold for laboratory research and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
