Privacy policy

The Peptide Guide (thepeptideguide.ca) is a Canadian research and education site operated by Rachel Gibb. This page describes what the site collects, why, where it is stored, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to satisfy Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

The short version: there are no accounts on this site, we never ask for payment information, and the only personal information you can give us is an email address, which you have to type in yourself.

What we collect

Your email address, if you give it to us

The newsletter form in the footer collects one thing: the email address you enter. We also record which form it came from and the date. We do not ask for your name, and we do not buy or import address lists.

Analytics about your visit

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read, how people arrive, and which links they follow out. This is aggregate measurement, not individual tracking: we see that a page had a certain number of readers, not who they were. Google collects your approximate location (city level, derived from your IP address), device and browser type, referring site, and the pages you view. Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses.

Standard server logs

Our host, Vercel, keeps short-term operational logs of requests to the site, which include IP addresses. These exist to keep the site running and to investigate abuse. We do not use them to build profiles of readers.

Cookies and browser storage

Google Analytics sets cookies (names beginning _ga) to distinguish one visit from another. Separately, this site stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser’s local storage under the key tpg-theme. That preference never leaves your device and is never sent to us. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run retargeting pixels.

Where your information is stored

Email addresses are held in a Supabase database hosted in Canada (ca-central-1). Analytics data is held by Google and processed on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to foreign courts and law enforcement under the laws of those countries. Site hosting and logs are handled by Vercel.

Who else is involved

• Google (Analytics). Measurement of site traffic.
• Supabase. The database that stores newsletter emails.
• Vercel. Hosting and content delivery.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your email address with any other company for their own marketing.

Links to other sites

This site links out to My Peptide Protocol (https://mypeptideprotocol.app), which has the same founder, and to vendors including RegenBioSignals (https://regenbiosignals.com), which is a disclosed referral partner. Those links carry a referral code and campaign tags so the destination site can attribute the visit, and the destination may set its own cookies once you arrive. Once you leave thepeptideguide.ca, this policy no longer applies. Read the privacy policy of whichever site you land on.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe at any time. Email us and we will delete your address from the list.
• See, correct, or delete what we hold. Under PIPEDA you may ask what personal information we have about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Write to us and we will respond within 30 days.
• Opt out of analytics. Install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block analytics scripts with your browser or an extension. The site works normally either way.

How long we keep things

Email addresses are kept until you ask us to remove them. Analytics data is retained on Google’s standard schedule, currently 14 months, after which the underlying visit-level records expire. Server logs are short-lived and managed by our host.

Children

This site covers compounds sold for laboratory research and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
